The idea for l'AppArt came from our own experiences. My sister loves painting and had been doing it for a few years, but she faced a common challenge: How to effectively showcase and sell her work ? Her living room was filling up with her creations.
Meanwhile, I embarked on a year-long renovation project for my apartment. After spending so much time on the renovations, I was eager to decorate it with some artistic touches. I visited various art galleries in Brussels, hoping to find a piece that I truly loved but also fell within my limited budget.
However, I found the experience intimidating — I never dared to ask about prices in those big, white galleries; it didn't feel right. And we assumed that many people probably encountered the same challenges or feelings we had.
So, we came up with l'AppArt. We transformed and furnished my renovated apartment into a gallery to test the concept and see if people liked the idea. Our aim was to make art more accessible and less intimidating — everything under 2500€. And that's how our journey began, bringing art closer to people like us facing similar issues.
